We meet the man who founded The Texas Mile, Jay Matus. The race is a standing start competition where anyone can enter in any vehicle.
The grassroots racer started the land speed event in 2003 and, what with the day job, he is extremely busy. However, after being stuck as an official starter in previous years, he is starting to find time again to start racing his own car in the event.
The motto of the Texas mile is “Drive in your world, race in ours” and Jay talks to us about his inspiration and his own racing career.
